The Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George: the 'Flaming Sword' and the 'Lance' Guarding the Realm
For those who hold high and confidential offices within His Majesty's possessions, and in recognition of services rendered to the Crown in relation to the foreign affairs of the Realm!
The Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George was founded on 28 April 1818 by George, Prince Regent, later King George IV, acting on behalf of his father, King George III. It ranks the fifth most senior Order of Chivalry, after the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, and before the Royal Victorian Order in the precedence of British honors.
